ABOUT

Mackenzie Spindler

Hi, I’m Mackenzie Spindler.

I’m a multidisciplinary artist whose work lives at the intersection of texture, memory, and reconstruction. My practice spans painting, mixed media, photography, installation, and design, with a focus on layered surfaces, material exploration, and the emotional architecture within each piece.

I began my creative career early, founding MIKISPIN in St. Louis in 2010, where I produced promotional campaigns and documented recording artists. At 18, I moved to Europe to expand my artistic perspective and build a portfolio that led me to New York City in 2012. There, I had the opportunity to learn from influential figures in the art world, including a formative period working at Andy Warhol’s former Factory on Wooster Street in collaboration with the Soho Arts Club.

Over the past decade, I’ve exhibited work in both solo and group settings and collaborated across creative industries, including projects connected to Patricia Field for Art Fashion, Art Basel Miami, LA Art Week, and Paris Fashion Week. These experiences shaped a multidisciplinary approach that continues to inform how I think about space, narrative, and visual storytelling.

My work today is rooted in process — layering, transfer, texture, and light — often reflecting themes of resilience, transformation, and the unseen structures that shape our lives. I’m drawn to materials that hold history and surfaces that evolve over time, allowing each piece to feel lived in rather than manufactured.

An extension of this philosophy led to the creation of Wet Paint Projects, where I bring an artist’s perspective into interior environments. From set design to residential and commercial spaces, I approach each project as a composition — treating walls, objects, and atmosphere as part of a larger visual language that bridges art and everyday life.

My work continues to evolve through both studio practice and larger creative initiatives focused on building spaces for artists and community.
